Following on from the success of the UK PP4SD project, a new PP4SD off-shoot has started in Wales, supported by the Welsh Assembly Government’s Knowledge Exploitation Fund. It is carrying out research within four industry sectors; fisheries management, aquaculture, land-based engineering and environmental management. This research will then inform the content of the training courses to ensure that they are specific and useful for the industries concerned. Several pilot training events have now been held, and we are confident that the project will benefit many small companies in this largely rural economy. The report on the Skills for Sustainability event held on 27 November 2006 is available on the Downloads page of this website. Please click Downloads in the menu at the top of this page and scroll down to find the report. This was a joint event between PP4SD and the Science Council. The event provided a forum for debate on the nature of skills for sustainability and the role of professional bodies in developing and promoting these skills. This report details the outcomes from the debate at the event. The Powerpoint presentations of the main speakers are also available to download.
