Aquaculture for the Future
Sustainable Development Training for the Aquaculture Sector

The Swansea University PP4SD Project for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
The materials below have been developed with the help of SMEs and industry bodies in the sector, including mussel and oyster farms in Menai Strait and Conwy Special Area of Conservation, Presteigne Trout Farm and the British Trout Association. They are designed for use by facilitators of group training events and their participants. They contain detailed information and links to other sources, and thus may be of interest to any user. Guidance is given in the Facilitator’s Manuals to enable interested facilitators to tailor their training to their own group’s situation and to ensure its content is topical and engaging. The workbook is designed for individual study. The materials map here illustrates the organisation of the materials and orientates you to those you will find most helpful for your particular training needs.

The materials have been designed to impact on business practice, by enabling participants to achieve the following objectives:

• Improve their awareness and understanding of the principles that underpin sustainable development
• Identify pressures for change in their industry
• Recognise the benefits of applying sustainable development to their enterprise
• Apply systems thinking to a single or cluster of enterprises, emphasising the benefit of the systems approach
• Develop a business action plan for sustainability
